I%26#039;m not exactly sure about the time zones either... Everyone is just saying 8pm so I geuss it doesn%26#039;t really matter :\4 months ago
8pm is probably just the best time for everyone and it works more because people use lights more at night than durring the day so it%26#039;ll save more energy and work better. Sure, one side of the world will be in daytime while the otherside is in night time. But what%26#039;s the point of having everyone turn off their lights durring the day? They%26#039;re already mostly off. So 8pm is good.. even though the whole world isn%26#039;t doing it all at the exact time

Yes I am. I asked a the same question last week and got a whole bunch of No%26#039;s. Its sad that so few people care about the environment. And yes before people jump on my case and say blah blah %26quot;it%26#039;s only one hour%26quot;, %26quot;it%26#039;s not going to make a difference%26quot; etc etc. It%26#039;s an awareness campaign it%26#039;s not designed to solve the entire planet%26#039;s environmental problems. It designed to raise awareness and make people think about the environment. Plus it%26#039;s fun. I don%26#039;t know why people don%26#039;t want to do it. It%26#039;s your planet too. I just checked out the link, briefly. I will probably do this too! But I didn%26#039;t see what time zone the 8pm was referring to. It would make sense if it was lined up with across all the time zones. i.e. 8pm PST would be 11pm EST etc...

Well ! I have not heard of this, but it sounds intriguing to have a synchronized outing of lights.
I would be eternally grateful if people turned their lights out and the government would go along with this and turn off all the street lights as well, as I would fire up my telescope for a good hours time.
This would indeed be happy time!
Let the sixth magnitude stars be seen.
P.S. Do this on a new moon 0% 0 Votes -

yeah everyone wont do it at the same time, just do it when its 8 at ur place. i joined a group on it on facebook and will try to do it!!!( someone on facebook also brought up a good point that if everyone did it tho and turned everyting on at 9 pm the power plants might not b able to take it all and we might have a balck out!!!)
