Actually believe it or not I am a rare breed of environmentalist in that I am politically pro-life, i.e. that abortion should be illegal. I believe it wrongful to take not only human life as well as animal life (except in the necessity of bare bones survival), but that it is wrong to damage the ecosystems that support them both.

You are correct that America needs to change the way we get power. The technology is already here (i.e. solar, wind, tidal, geo-thermal, bio-mass) only those in power must ease off their greed which is unlikely to happen, so as consumers we are morally compelled to vote with our dollars.

• No, the law should be amended so that if a mining company removes the top of a mountain to acquire minerals then, when they%26#039;re done they should have to put the top back onto the mountain. The same for strip mining, If they dig a huge pit to remove something then they need to fill in the pit when they%26#039;re done. Same for shaft mining, fill in the mine when they%26#039;re done.

Those guys who own stock or run the companies should be given long prison sentences in max security prisons,with no possibility of parole as well.
• I agree with Raji. Anything that mining does to destroy the natural environment (which it REALLY destroys!), the company should attempt to %26quot;reverse%26quot; when completed. Not just filling holes in with dirt, but replanting trees and other vegetation.
