The polar bears are dying? the polar bears are dying out because their natural habitat is being destroyed, but there are polar bears in conservation parks and zoo%26#039;s across the world. My question is :
what is the point in conserving the polar bears if there is no habitat to return them to?
They could not possibly be fulfilling their role in the eco-system while living in a zoo in Australia, and to relocate them would further damage the natural eco-system. I guess this relates to many other species too.

did anyone read details of the questions? I KNOW they are dying, I KNOW why they%26#039;re dying, my question is why are conservationists trying to SAVE the polar bears if there is no habitat to RETURN them to?

All in All it is a very sad situation and we do not have the means for real solutions except to try and take care of what we got

And to rectify what we are doing wrong as much as possible ,such as non sustainable farming,wasteful utilization of bio resources ,bad design with urban growth,
deforestation,destructive industry and pollution

It will not be long when we have to focus on our own survival,

We are emotionally touched by the big animals ,giraffes ,Elephants ,Tigers and so on ,

But on a lower level thousands are going extinct as well which are just as important .

Insects can be even more important than polar bears when it comes to the equilibriums of Eco systems

O woe is all i can think of to say

What is even sadder is how many people are totally ignorant of what is happening to nature as the answers indicate here

All 15 movies are great,these people have been making nature movies for many years and they show and talk about the differences of what they see today ,
compared with before
They say whole migrations of millions of animals in the tundras have disappeared in just 5 years.

And everywhere they go people talk about certain species not being there any more..

thousands of species of frogs have gone ,world wide.

Global warming -- a gradual increase in planet-wide temperatures -- is now well documented and accepted by scientists as fact. Studies indicate that the average global surface temperature has increased by approximately 0.5-1.0°F (0.3-0.6°C) over the last century. This is the largest increase in surface temperature in the last 1,000 years and scientists are predicting an even greater increase over this century. Greenhouse Gases
The increase in greenhouse gases caused by human activity is often cited as one of the major causes of global warming. These greenhouse gases reabsorb heat reflected from the Earth%26#039;s surface, thus trapping the heat in our atmosphere. This natural process is essential for life on Earth because it plays an important role in regulating the Earth%26#039;s temperature. However, over the last several hundred years, humans have been artificially increasing the concentration of these gases, mainly carbon dioxide and methane in the Earth%26#039;s atmosphere. These gases build up and prevent additional thermal radiation from leaving the Earth, thereby trapping excess heat.

Solar Variability %26amp; Global Warming


Some uncertainty remains about the role of natural variations in causing climate change. Solar variability certainly plays a minor role, but it looks like only a quarter of the recent variations can be attributed to the Sun. At most. During the initial discovery period of global warming, the magnitude of the influence of increased activity on the Sun was not well determined.


Solar irradiance changes have been measured reliably by satellites for only 30 years. These precise observations show changes of a few tenths of a percent that depend on the level of activity in the 11-year solar cycle. Changes over longer periods must be inferred from other sources. Estimates of earlier variations are important for calibrating the climate models. While a component of recent global warming may have been caused by the increased solar activity of the last solar cycle, that component was very small compared to the effects of additional greenhouse gases. According to a NASA Goddard Institute for Space Studies (GISS) press release, %26quot;...the solar increases do not have the ability to cause large global temperature increases...greenhouse gases are indeed playing the dominant role...%26quot; The Sun is once again less bright as we approach solar minimum, yet global warming continues.
