Wasteful conservation rallies? Has anyone else seen big displays urging people to conserve resources that are themselves enormous wastes of energy and material? For example, my college recently had a group promoting energy conservation...by giving out thousands of T-shirts and buttons! Why did thousands of T-shirts need to be produced to get this message across? They also printed out all kinds of handouts (waste) and gave out plastic cups of drinks (waste). Can anyone suggest ways to urge large numbers of people to actually give a crap about conserving resources, WITHOUT resorting to producing and giving out thousands of pieces of cheap plastic crap and T-shirts?

Best Answer

Because alot of people are really passionate about something and let their passion run away from them. They don%26#039;t sit down and really think about the best way to deal with an issue so they just do what everyone else does to raise awareness about things. They pass out stuff to get people excited about the cause.

If I were planning a rally, it wouldn%26#039;t be like you have described, but then again no one has asked me to plan one.

yup, it is hard to get people interested without dangling some kind of carrot. Too many %26quot;doomsday predicting%26quot; type conservationists ruin the very real message others are trying to get across
