We waste water in our homes in many ways. When washing clothes why not use the minimum load cycle! It still gets my clothes clean. Also grey water, from the bath/shower. This can be used if tapped from down pipes, to water gardens , water house plants, clean cars, clean the drive etc. When cleaning teeth turn the tap off. Run water into a sink to wash hands not wash under a running tap. If you don%26#039;t have a double flush toilet put a brick into cistern then it will fill with less water. When running water to fill sink, bath, shower etc catch the cold into a jug or bucket, this can then be used to wash floors, clean the bath/sink, rinse cars, drive, paths or water the plants. Fill the dish washer completely before turning on. If only a few dishes wash by hand. Only fill a kettle with just enough water to make what you want. This saves water (evaporation) and fuel. I am the educational officer for an Eco Park where we teach children in school about ecology. Our toilets on the park are flushed by grey water, we have huge water tanks in the ground that collect rain water to flush the loo%26#039;s! Water for the sinks is heated by solar panels .(it gets very, very hot!) Our air conditioning is water troughs outside of low windows (ground level). When it gets hot we open low windows on one side of building. The high windows on the other side of the building are opened. Hot air flows over the water troughs, enters the building as COOL air and the hot air leaves by the high windows, it really works. I hope this helps. There are some excellent ideas that really work, and it%26#039;s time we all started using them. Good luck with your assignment. Educational Officer for an Eco Park.Other Answers (6)

Turn off the water when brushing your teeth(tooth?), this will save more water than all other actives you mentioned.

The number 1 waste of water is in your toilet. The flapper valve gets old and starts leaking, the leak goes right down the drain and the consumer never knows it. The flapper valve is the rubber plunger that makes the toilet flush. If you rub it with your fingers and your fingers get dirty, then your flapper valve is rotting out. It is the biggest case of wasted water in America period.

I waste water when:
-waiting for shower to get warm (same as you!)
-washing pets and cleaning cages
-leaky garden tap
I save water when:
-We have buckets in all our showers
-We have special water-saving showerheads
-We fill the dishwasher up b4 turning on
-%26quot; %26quot; washing maching up b4 turning on
Did this help? I hope so!

Water is wasted by outside watering using tap water when water from rain barrels can be used instead.
