What are your plans for dealing with the predicted jump in the cost of heat your home this winter.?
in my house we will be using as little oil as possible by only heating the water in the mornings we also have solar panels on the roof that can either heat the water or the house we have a large energy saving hot water tank that keeps water HOT for 2 days only got in in this yr as with allot of other energy savers as we got the whole house renovated as for keeping the house warm as i said we have solar panels but for the darker days wear a jumper!! as the house was renovated we have great insulation so the house does not loose heat easy anyhow
so really I%26#039;m not to worried as we don%26#039;t need to use much oil anyhow....
I%26#039;m very interested to what people will say here and also if they have done anything themselves to go green.... here in Ireland we%26#039;v been warned to go green for the last five years or so, although not many have!! more fool them!
Make sure the windows and doors are caulked and sealed against air leaks. Use the sun as it moves across the house as ambiant heat. Use space heaters where I am able to only heat a room that I am in. Bundle up by layering sweaters and fleece cover-ups. Leave the oven open after baking or roasting to let the heat out into the room as the oven cools. Close the doors to rooms that I am not using.
As a person living in India, my concept of American homes is that they have too many bedrooms and many of these are not in use. It is important to exclude those rooms not in use from heating. It is also time that lavish constructions are made a thing of the past. Room height should also be around 10 feet only
Yes it%26#039;s going to be tough this year. This winter is predicted to be colder than last years winter, even expected to break decade old records for cold.
The pending record cold and high costs of energy is going to make a slim Christmas for many.
1) Not buy new clothes
2) Not eat out in restaurants
3) Turn down the thermostat
4) Not go on vacation this summer
closing upstairs of house...and using more wood...bottled gas went from 2.15 a gallon to 3.25 a gallon
Nothing. We are experiencing %26quot;global warming%26quot; so, my bills shoud actually be lower.
I am going to cut down more trees for use as firewood.
