What can I do to save our local wildlife areas? I live in Grand Rapids, MI and I came home today to see that another forrest area near my house was destoyed in one day%26#039;s time to make room for some God awful business. What can I personally do to help prevent wildlife areas to be destroyed. I just don%26#039;t know which direction to go in and SOMETHING NEEDS TO BE DONE!!!! (For tons of inspirational info)

Let us all strive for a greener/brighter future by helping to create a solid foundation for future generations to build upon, so we can hand them a beautiful world, filled with never ending awe and wonders!!

Where peoples differences and uniqueness are accepted, where we all live as one, helping one another so that we can all play our own mysteriously beautiful melodies in the never ending, awe inspiring, song of life :-)

I truly have faith in humanity and believe that someday our lives and the world in which we live will truly be transformed for the better. 0% 0 Votes
  • 1. Buy up all the available land.
    2. Buy a hunting/fishing license. These licence funds are earmarked for habitat maintenance and improvement.
    3. Don%26#039;t use paper or wood products. 0% 0 Votes

  • Ideas %26amp; musings:
Look into city meetings when there is petition for a developer to rezone land. But it may be that once a company buys a lot, there may not be a lot to be done at that level.

Talk to your district%26#039;s council folks or the mayor about preserving some of those lands. Or enact some kind of clause or law that keeps developers from doing clear cutting. In San Antonio, there is a battle going on about the definition of a tree vs a shrub. Shrubs ok to cut, not ok to cut trees. Developers are trying to sway our community leaders that some of the smaller native trees are shrubs so they can help themselves to clear cutting.

Inquire what the local Sierra Club is doing about that issue. I%26#039;m sure they would welcome concerned newcomers.

Plant a wildscape in your yard to create a haven for some of the displaced creatures and perhaps inspire others to do the same.
Hope some of these ideas gets you going! 0% 0 Votes
  • Anything that will stop population growth and urban sprawl. This is the root cause of all wildlife habitat loss. The expansion of housing and business development is just growth answering the demands of the population. 0% 0 Votes
