What does the decline in honeybees mean?
From what I gather, we won%26#039;t have certain kinds of foods or flowers if the honeybees die off. I know that they have determined these bees are dying because of a virus. I just want more details on how this will affect our ecosystem.

I was glad to learn that the die-off was from a virus, and not from the frequencies given off by cell phones. I am hopeful that even though way too many bees have died off, there will be a resistant few who will live on and repopulate. But who knows how long that will take?

If we loose honeybees then people will only survive another 5 years..
the virus is only one theory.. another theory is cell phones confusing them, pollutants and pesticides.. etc...

Einstein said that when the bee%26#039;s die we will have 4 years left!

For the past few years we had the local bee keeper set up 20 more hives throughout the farm We saw a large increase in fruit and vegetables production during this time because the more bees we have the more flowers on the veggies were pollinated and the more fruit we get. We will probably get veggies but maybe not as much. Hopefully the butterflies, moths and wasps can help pollinate. Lets say a few that they find the cause and eradicate it so the bee population thrives again. Food production will be down as the population continues to rise. What ever will POOH do without his honey jar

Honey Bees pollinate the flowers of the plants we eat - for free. The ecological service they provide allows the plants to develop naturally and makes the product cheaper. Without bees to pollinate, our crops will not grow properly and we will eventually have less food to eat.

food will diminish fast. it is a really bad situation going on, fruit trees are being pollinated by hand now because of the bee problem. not good at all.

Because we depend so much on honeybees for the pollination and the total production of food like corn, apples, oranges and other fruits and vegetables, if they die, we may have less food in the future. We may even lose some plants forever. If by chance the plant is the only bamboo plant that the pandas eat we my lose them also. It%26#039;s a scary thought. Thanks for asking so we all can think about it.
