Many wild animals miraculously survived the tsunami. Some animal experts suggest they %26quot;sensed%26quot; the danger and made for high ground.

But animal welfare organizations say domestic animals and livestock didn%26#039;t do as well and are now at risk of contracting infections that could spread to already devastated human populations.

Rabies is usually contained through surveillance and vaccination. But since the tsunami many dogs (cats and monkeys too) have been ownerless or abandoned and cases of rabies are everywhere.
