Don%26#039;t confuse an environmentalist with an ecologist or environmental scientist. People who work in wildlife conservation generally make an adequate living working for a government agency. The Fish and Wildlife Service and each state maintain large staffs but turnover is low. The rate of pay depends on your level of education and experience. Pay isn%26#039;t great but the retirement benefits are quite good. The work can be interesting too. For awhile, I got paid to go fly-fishing.

• It depends on their actual position, seniority/experience/education, and sector. A low level government employee or NPO worker won%26#039;t make a fraction as much as say a senior executive or entrepreneur in the private sector. You%26#039;d really have to narrow that down to a specific occupation to even get a decent range.
