I would be happy to pay for a plastic bag that biodegrades. The plastic bags now are a worry for me. In the environment they have a big impact, especially in the sea in some places.

i think it is a good idea to conserve the plastic bag
less pollution yay -
I think their great. They hold a bunch of stuff, and then they make great trash bags for holding yukky stuff that would leak through paper.

Why dont they keep plastic bags but just make them of a lesser quality (I noticed in America that their plastic bags seem half as thick as ours), or use brown paper bags like in the good old days or even make them out of a special environmentally friendly material?
Notice how the government haven%26#039;t thought of this? Instead of thinking practically they always insist on just slapping tax on everything. Its the same with cars and petrol. They even tax us when we try and find alternative fuels for our cars such as vegetable oil.
I do think we need to do something about this problem, but I know in my house and in many other households, we reuse our plastic bags to line our bins and to carry things in such as muddy shoes etc... -
Plastic bags are really something our society should try to do away with. They are given away with almost everything. If I%26#039;m buying something small like a tube of toothpaste or a bottle of iced tea, I always tell them I don%26#039;t need the bag.
The best thing to do is to purchase cloth bags and use them when you get groceries. A lot of environmental groups are selling them as fundraisers, and more and more grocery stores are also selling them cheap. They are way better than plastic bags and don%26#039;t tear open when you%26#039;re halfway out to your car. -
We use them time and time again until they are worn out, then we put them in the recycling sack.

I%26#039;ve been buying inexpensive heavy duty bags to reuse, so I no longer have to have store bags. I think anything that isn%26#039;t biodegradable or recyclable should never be used. Plastic bags cause too much damage, I think they need to be banned.

I try to recylce mine by re-using them to shop with. If they get too holey or old I take them back to the shop and put them in the recycle bins they have instore just for plastic bags.

problem is everything is made of plastic. So I re use mine plastic bags. I think supermarkets just cover everything in plastic.
In Israel (Eilat) they have no water to water the trees so they put the brightest bags on the branches. Therefore you have a tree that rustles in the wind and does so brightly. Everyone should insist on buying food where possible unwrapped.
Tyres, bags and anything plastic can be turned into road signs, surface for roads etc. But the sheer volume of it is staggering, just check around your house. I%26#039;m in a school and we are attempting to recycle but its very very hard cos not everyone is on board. -
I only used them if I have to. Not because I%26#039;m trying to save the planet, but I love seeing a Sainsbury%26#039;s shop-assistant%26#039;s face when I pack my groceries into a Tesco re-usable bag. The planet can, and will survive with or without us.
