Not sure about foods...other than that you can create compost piles from peelings and stuff you would normally toss from fruits and veggies. Plant seeds? We drink a lot of beverages, so aluminum cans is my big item I recycle. Take them to a salvage place and get so much $per pound. I also save plastic shopping bags to use as trash can liners, make ice packs, or to use in boxes I ship. Depending on where you live the common recyclables would be plastic, paper, glass, aluminum. Recycling by definition is to reuse in another way other than its original use. I am a former teacher so you can really re-use stuff for crafts for kids. Ex: egg, milk cartons, empty tissue boxes, fabric scraps, colorful plastic medicine bottles, etc....Be creative!
