Why cant you use red oak for a barrel(liquor barrel)? i already know the answer im just giving someone the chance to earn 10 points

Best Answer

The pores of the wood of the white oaks are plugged with material called tyloses. Because of tyloses white oak wood is used in barrels that hold liquids. Red oak barrels do not have tyloses so can only be used to store dry materials.
