Why should we protect endangered species?

Best Answer - Chosen by Voters

Interesting question. It is simply because man has a conscience. Hundreds of thousands of species have come and gone naturally before man even had much impact. Nature kills and destroys species with no conscience and no mercy.

Man and only man has a conscience, and feels sorry for other species. 38% 3 Votes

  • Why should we protect endangered species? Answers are too many but I would like to know why should we kill them??? For meat, skin, trophy.
Every creature in nature is supporting each other directly or indirectly. Who know, tomorrow any gene from any endangered species will be cure for aids or cancer. 0% 0 Votes
  • There are quite a few good answers to your question....i say we should because animals are living things and they deserve to have a chance at life. Wouldn%26#039;t you want someone to protect us if we were endangered? 0% 0 Votes
  • We need to protect endangered species because they all play a roll for the world, if they died out eventually we would to, we are all connected to each other. and we all need to help our world survive and that includes the endangered species as well 0% 0 Votes
  • Protecting an endangered species, be it animal or plant, goes way beyond not killing it. We may not be able to protect all species from extinction, and typically the endangered species is not of great impact on the ecosystem, simply because very small numbers of any species have almost negligible effect on the ecosystem.

Actually we need to be stepping in to maintain populations at levels far above what would cause us to call the species endangered. And no, it is not always just a matter of not killing them. Often species are exterminated as their habitat is destroyed, or as some other species is allowed, often encouraged to take over the territory.

So the task of protecting diminished species can be in terms of not starving them, or not introducing natural predators into their habitat, not tilling, draining, or flooding the land they live on, so quite a few restrictions may be needed to retain a reasonable population, not allow it to decline to near extinction. 13% 1 Vote

  • We should protect endangered species because if we don%26#039;t they will go extinct. Every animal has a place in the food chain and if one dies out then something could get over populated or something else could go extinct. 0% 0 Votes
  • Because we don%26#039;t want them to become extinct! We%26#039;ve already lost some of the Earth%26#039;s most greatest animals and we don%26#039;t want to risk losing anymore. 0% 0 Votes
  • The better question is %26quot;Why not.%26quot; We are the real reason many of them are extinct in the first place. In my opinion, endangered animals serve us as a reminder of the wrong we are doing, and how we have to change our selfs to better the world =P Might as well help them go out with a fighting chance, since we are the reason for them being on the endangered species list in the first place... 25% 2 Votes
  • yes,, shot everything that eat endangered species 0% 0 Votes
  • Because every species has its place in the cycle of life, when one is eliminated a part of the cosystem dies, which causes a negative chain effect on every other creature it sustains or comes in contact with.
