Will you leave an area of grass long to save moths and butterflies? In UK common butterflies lay their eggs in long grass. By changing when you cut the long grass down from summer to late Autumn you will not be taking all the eggs away to compost.

If you leave a few long tussocks over winter then it provides habitat for butterflies and other creatures over winter.
