Would you use this or that? Which saves more an air conditioner or two fans? Oh course the air has to come on for about 14 hours a day. Would it save energy to use two fans for the rest of the day?

Best Answer

yes, they suck way less juice than the A/C. Furthermore, if you use them in tandem w/Air, you could have as much as 40% energy savings because the air feels cooler. (so I%26#039;ve read)

  • Fans. If you play your cards right, and don%26#039;t live in the middle of phoenix, you wont even need an air conditioner. Use the fans heavily at night when the outdoor air temperature drops significantly, drawing the cool air into your home. Then during the day, close windows and draw your blinds as much as possible to lock in the coolness. If you have a basement, you can also draw cool air out of it during the day as subterranean temperatures stay at a fairly constant 50 degrees.

If its really miserably hot, and you absolutely need to cool down, go out somewhere. :P
I like to go see movies on a hot night because they always keep the theaters really cold, but I don%26#039;t have to pay for it. :)
  • Fans use much less electricity. They can be adjusted to blow hot air out or draw cool air in in the evening. A ceiling fan works well too.
  • fans yes because the air conditioners really take the power up and not just electric but maintenance also.
