About global warming? Can anyone give me their one-minute speech about Global Warming?
Thanks! =]

global warming is caused by%26quot;green house gases%26quot;released naturally,however due to human activities mainly the usage of co2,nh4and ch4 ,the earths temperature is increasing dramatically...thus causing major environmental and human problems....

  • Global warming is a term used to describe a gradual increase in the earth’s average
    ground and atmospheric temperatures across the whole planet. Measurements
    indicate that the global temperature has increased by about 1 degree Fahrenheit
    in the past century.
    This warming trend appeared during a period when human activities were
    beginning to increase the carbon dioxide (CO2) and other greenhouse gases in
    the atmosphere.
    Although most scientists believe that a rise in carbon dioxide emissions will lead to
    further global warming, uncertainties remain about the timing and severity of resulting
    climatic change. Nevertheless, many are convinced that human activities are partly
    responsible for the long-term warming of the past century and that climatic changes
    caused by greenhouse gas increases will be a continuing part of our future.
    They believe there is enough evidence to warrant a sensible approach toward
    minimizing the potential consequences of global warming.
    The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a panel of 2,000 scientists convened
    by the United Nations’ Environment Programme and the World Meteorological
    Organization, determined that even if we take steps now to reduce our emissions of
    greenhouse gases, the globe could warm up at a rate faster than it has in the past
    10,000 years. 17% 1 Vote
  • global warming is happening but the reason they blame is wrong... they say humans caused the depletion of the ozone layer and the build up of %26quot;green house gases%26quot; and im not disagreeing but thats not why global warming is happening... its due to the earths magnetic fields weakening and allowing more solar radiation from the sun to bombard the earth instead of being deflected. the planet goes through cycles and every 100,000 years or so the earths magnetic fields shift from magnetic north to magnetic south. first the fields become weak at the weakest points already, those being the north and south poles, then once weak enough the fields begin to switch... scientists say when that occurs youll be able to see the northern lights in random parts of the world and skin cancer in humans will jump... then after a couple thousand years it will stabilize and if you where to have a compass from before it happened and tried to use it after it would show north as south and south as north... there im done. 17% 1 Vote
  • Global warming has STOPPED
    What%26#039;s Global warming has STOPPED. What%26#039;s going on?

    The fact is that the global temperature of 2007 is statistically the same as every year since 2001. Global warming has, temporarily or permanently, ceased. Temperatures across the world are NOT increasing as they should according to the fundamental theory – the greenhouse effect. Something else is happening, perhaps similar to the GLOBAL COOLING observed between 1940 and 1978.The period 1980-98 was one of rapid warming – a temperature increase of about 0.5 degrees C (CO2 rose from 340ppm to 370ppm). But since then the global temperature has been flat (whilst the CO2 has relentlessly risen from 370ppm to 380ppm). This means that the global temperature today is about 0.3 deg LESS than it would have been had the rapid increase continued.
    For the past decade the world has NOT warmed. Global warming has stopped. It’s an observational fact. *** From article in the Newstatesman.com by David Whitehouse, Ph.D. in astrophysics ***
    ======================
    Additional Details:
    That global warming has stopped (at least for the last 10 years) is NOT my opinion; it is scientific FACT using the universally accepted measures used to record global temperatures. Even though CO2 concentrations continue to increase in the atmosphere, global temperatures have NOT increased in 10 years, so something is WRONG with the %26quot;greenhouse effect%26quot; theory.
    ===============
    FACTS:
    1.)From 1940-1978 there was a measurable global COOLING.
    2.) From 1980-1988 there was a measurable global WARMING.
    3.) Since 1988 there has been NO measurable global warming - the global temperature (as it has calculated in all 3 periods) has leveled off.

    Like them or not, these facts are NOT in dispute by climatologists. What is in dispute is WHY the global warming has not kept pace with the rising CO2 levels AND WHETHER the global warming will start up again.

    I am just reporting what I have read in various scientific journals on climatology.

    Response to one skeptic: The article I cited (and others) talk SOLELY about global TEMPERATURES, then determining a mean (or average) for the planet +- standard deviation. It involves statistical analysis of millions of readings at many times of the year - but the formula remains the same year after year so that the years can be fairly compared to each other. THAT is how %26quot;global warming%26quot; is defined. For a decade the mean global temperature was increasing RAPIDLY every year, following the increases in CO2. But since 1998 the mean global temperature has NOT increased at all, even as the CO2 levels have kept increasing. So, one must conclude that the %26quot;greenhouse effect%26quot; is NOT the sole cause of global warming or global cooling.

    Global warming and cooling are cyclical events that have both occurred many times in the Earth%26#039;s past - all climatologists agree on that (witness the last Ice Age). What is UNKNOWN is why these events occur. FACT: %26quot;Global warming%26quot; stopped 10 years ago - whether it starts again or we enter a COOLING period (like 1940-1978) ??? Who knows???
