We were worried about a new ice age, and we still should be. Global warming is happening, and we should be worried about it. If global warming continues on its course, and nothing is done about it, we will be heading into an ice age. Because of global warming, the North Atlantic Current (also known as the Gulf Stream) is slowing. This is because as the ice caps in the north begin melting (due to global warming), the sea water is being diluted with fresh water. The gulf stream relies on the saltiness of the ocean, and with more dilution comes the slowing down of the current. If the Gulf Stream stops, warm water that comes to the north from the tropics will stop coming, making it colder. The reason places like England and other European countries have mild weather is because of the Gulf Stream. If it stops, th glaciers will stop retreating and start advancing in Europe, North America and Asia, pushing the Northern Hemisphere into an ice age. So we should be worried about both global warming and a new ice age.
