Maurice Strong was (is)an energy trader who tried to steal then sell the people of Colorado their own water. He is the Godfather of the Kyoto Protocal. He controlled the Earth Summit that gave birth to the notion of global warming. He wrote the treaty (with Gorbachev). He decided the winners and losers. He is in China to avoid corruption charges involving several UN programs, like Oil for Food. He is avoiding jail. He%26#039;s gone a long way since his backroom politics days in Canada.
If people would spend just 5 minutes at that site, their level of actual knowledge about the history of global warming would increase 10-fold. 0% 0 Votes 0% 0 Votes
The answer below complaining about biofuels shows ignorance of basic science. The CO2 that comes from biofuels was extracted from the air by plants a very short time ago. Putting it back is no big deal. It%26#039;s called the %26quot;carbon cycle%26quot;. Digging up fossil fuels the carbon cycle buried millions of years ago, and burning them real fast, is a very big deal. Scientists have used %26quot;isotopic ratios%26quot; to PROVE that%26#039;s why CO2 levels are increasing.
Also, most of the scientists who ay global warming is real do NOT get funding for global warming. They include most members of:
The National Academy of Sciences, the American Association for the Advancement of Science, the American Institute of Physics, the American Chemical Society, the American Geophysical Union, the American Meteorological Association, etc.
But they do know good science when they see it.
EDIT - There are a few %26quot;skeptics%26quot;. But their numbers are relatively small.
%26quot;The fact that the community overwhelmingly supports the consensus is evidenced by picking up any copy of Journal of Climate or similar, any scientific program at the meetings, or simply going to talk to scientists. I challenge you, if you think there is some un-reported division, show me the hundreds of abstracts that support your view - you won%26#039;t be able to. You can argue whether the consensus is correct, or what it really implies, but you can%26#039;t credibly argue it doesn%26#039;t exist.%26quot;
NASA%26#039;s Gavin Schmidt
%26quot;There%26#039;s a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know.
Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can%26#039;t find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away.%26quot;

This link goes to an article about the politicization of climate science, written by a scientific historian. The Maurice Strong angle sounds interesting - It wouldn%26#039;t be surprising to find a skilled con man at the center of this. 0% 0 Votes

The only smart people touting global warming are the ones getting the millions of dollars in grant money. Yet, they make fun of oil companies. What amazes me is that they have no proof and follow this rhetoric because it is popular and environmentally sound. Yet biofuels put more CO2 in the atmosphere than fossil fuels ever could. Anything organic that burns will give off CO2. Funny how ten percent of the fuel must be ethanol or else. That%26#039;s what California says, yet what is the main product of fermentation... CO2. It seems so hypocritical that they say green but aren%26#039;t quite all that. 0%
