The major flaw with Kyoto is that it is trying to do so little that nobody reasonably believes it is able to change the direction of global warming.
Earth needs to bring our emissions to 30% of current levels within a decade. But that can not b e sold, politically, no matter hoe much it is needed.
Kyoto targets are an attempt to get everyone working in the same direction while we get our heads around the enormity of the problem.
The only way we can get our emissions down far and fast enough is to cap and rfeduce both imports and extraction of all fossil fuels. We need to start with a reduction of 1% per month in terms of carbon content, whether that means a bit of coal or a lot of natural gas reduction. 23% 8 Votes -
