Gas is so expensive because of global warming? Does anyone think gas is rising because of global warming? 0% 0 Votes
  • Global warming has NOTHING to do with gas prices. Oil is a traded commodity. Gas is so expensive due to the fact so many of our government officials, large corporations and just extremely rich people in general, hold stock in oil companies and keep the prices up so they can reap profits. There are so many better ways, but as long as Americans keep quiet and keep buying, the prices will keep going up. Think about this: years ago in the grocery industry, prices on already purchased shelved goods would be increased as NEW items with higher prices came in. There was an uproar about this practice. The grocery retailers had to STOP this practice and only price the NEW items with the higher retail prices. Now, with that in mind, think about how we constantly hear about the never ending rise in prices of barrels of oil. The gas stations INCREASE the per gallon prices daily - sometimes many times in one day. Now, the barrels priced at the higher prices won%26#039;t get to the actual pumps for YEARS!! The gas in the station%26#039;s wells - or containers - was purchased who knows when, but not at the NEW higher barrel price. Why do people keep putting up with this? We should NEVER pay higher prices until the ACTUAL HIGHER PRICED OIL IS CONVERTED INTO GAS AND DELIVERED TO OUR GAS STATIONS. Think about this..... 17% 1 Vote
  • No.

Gas is more expensive mainly because of supply and demand. Demand has sharply increased with China and India becoming more modern. Unfortunately, supply has not kept pace with demand. Part of this is due to the poor policy of the US to not drill where they have discovered oil reserves. Every other country rejoices when they discover oil and immediately try to recover the oil, but not the US. In the US, we like to discover deposits, then have the government tell us we can not drill there. We have deposits in Alaska, the intercontinental shelf and new ones discovered in North Dakota. But noooo, we can not drill there because of.....well, I am not sure why. We already drill in the ocean, Alaska and many other places with no adverse effect, but the US government forbids drilling in any new location. Sorry about my rant.

There is a portion of the increase which can be atributed to our government%26#039;s overreacting to the theory of AGW. Since the mandate of bio fuels, gas prices are being pushed up. This is because the government requires the use of more biofuels, even though they are much more expensive than gas. So for this reaon, the answer is that yes, the theory of AGW has in fact attribute to the increase in prices. 17% 1 Vote
  • NO! gas is expensive because everyone else on earth is drilling except us! And some of them, right in our own back door(where we%26#039;re too afraid to drill because we think we%26#039;re the only people who have oil spills I guess?)....because of global warming??? uh...yea, in direct proportion to why I fart every time it rains! (I need duct tape for my head if I%26#039;m gonna hang around any more global prophets!!).......... 0% 0 Votes
  • No, we invaded one of the highest producing oil countries and their oil output is still less than half the pre-war level. At the same time demand skyrocketed in developing nations such as China.

Supply went down and demand went up... of course prices went up. 0% 0 Votes
  • No. Gas is expensive because we refuse to drill for more. Supply and demand. OPEC doesn%26#039;t set the price of oil, but they do determine the amount pumped. If they pumped more, it%26#039;d get cheaper. 0% 0 Votes
  • What others have said is true.
A lot of it also has to do with oil speculators. They%26#039;ve found oil to be a good commodity so everytime they buy and sell the stock, price of oil goes up and up. Thanks, guys. 0% 0 Votes
  • Gas is so expensive for a number of reasons China%26#039;s increased demand, supply issues from several countries including Nigeria and Iraq, speculation by investors on the stock market. 17% 1 Vote
  • i don%26#039;t think so. mainly it%26#039;s because of what%26#039;s going on in the middle east. Global warming is just another reason - along with gas prices - why we should find alternatives to gas. 0% 0 Votes
  • No, gas is expensive because we are running out of oil and the demand for it has not decreased. 17% 1 Vote
