Global warming? Crock of hooey or true ?

There%26#039;s a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on Yahoo answers:
http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/a...
And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

%26quot;There%26#039;s a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can%26#039;t find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away.%26quot;

It boggles my mind how people still are talking about the disagreement between scientists!
Bob has already given lots of data, so I am just going to give you this argument.
If the officials who give the Nobel Peace prize thought that Gore%26#039;s movie was just a pr campaign on a debatable issue, they wouldn%26#039;t have given him the prize.
No scientists disagree with this. Only religious people are still arguing against it, like they do against the science showing that earth starter quite a while ago.
Yes global warming is but but lets think about something.
Our government, the same ones who kill kids in pointless wars and ignores the genocide happening in africa RIGHT NOW is concerned with %26quot;saving%26quot; the enviroment?
I just think the only reason global warming is a hot topic is because the government gets so much damn money from it.

Global warming is a cyclical event that takes place over tens of thousands of years. However, the natural cycle of things has been accelerated by man%26#039;s %26#039;industrial revolution%26#039; of these past 150 years.
Smoke-belching factories, vehicle emissions, polluted water and air, landfill leaching, over fishing of the oceans, destruction of the rain forest and mangrove forests, and devastation of animals%26#039; natural habitats have created conditions that will not allow man, plants or animals to adapt quickly enough to climatic changes. If we don%26#039;t do something to change things in the next fifty years, we will suffer dire consequences that will impact negatively on this planet and all future generations.
We will soon discover that we have become victims of our own arrogance, avarice, ignorance, and hubris. And our grandchildren, or great-grandchildren, will suffer for it. All because we %26quot;had%26quot; to drive gas-guzzling SUVs and we %26quot;had%26quot; to refuse to REuse, REduce and REcycle. -RKO- 01/13/08
There is no question that the Earth is warming.... just as it has many times over ancient and recent history. There are also rising CO2 levels, but it is definitely not clear whether or not human activities are responsible for these observations.... In the Scientific Community, there is lots of disagreement on whether or not CO2 levels are a result or a cause of the globat warming. What is generally accepted - and what you rarely see in the popular media, is that any possible constraint on human activities will have at most, an effect of perhaps a percent or two on the warming..... so even if we were to eliminate the burning of all fossil fuels everwhere, it ain%26#039;t going to change the future. The planet%26#039;s getting warmer, species will die out, there will be changes in the ecology and new things will start to happen..... just like it always has..... so hang on your hat and enjoy the show....... the politicians ain%26#039;t going to have any impact on it at all.
Today here is what we know: many of mankind’s advancements cause earth surface to warm, destroy the ozone layer, kill off endanger species, heat cities, and in some way cause more destruction. Blacktop (roads and parking lots), buildings, air pollution (causes lung and other diseases), deforestation, duststorms (which increase hurricanes and cyclones and cause lung diseases), fires (cause pollution, mud slides, and deforestation), refrigerants (like CFC%26#039;s), solvents (including benzene destroy the ozone layer raising skin cancer rates); cars, airplanes, ships and most electricity production (causes pollution including raised CO2 levels) are problems we humans need to fix! That is why I founded CoolingEarth.org, a geoengineering web sight. The federal government needs to adopt a pollution surcharge to balance the field and advance new technologies. We must pay the real price of oil including global warming and for health effects. But with that we must understand we have never seen what is now happening before. CO2 has never lead to temperature change, but temperature change has led to increases in CO2. The models have to be made as we go along with little evidence! The result is: change is on the way, we just do not know what changes. Even natural events are warming earth and causing destruction. The sun has an increased magnetic field causing increases in earthquakes (more destruction), volcanoes (wow, great destruction), and sun spots. Lighting produces ozone near the surface (raising air pollution levels). But humans have destroyed half of the wetlands, cut down nearly half of the rain forest, and advance on the earths grasslands while advancing desertification. The USA Mayor%26#039;s have taken a stand and I believe are on the right track, we can have control and can have economic growth. With the peak of oil in the 1970’s, the peak of ocean fishing in the 1980’s, humans must stop procrastinating and make real changes in energy debate, finance and regulation. The sun is available to produce energy. Composting is the answer to desertification. New dams are the answer to fresh water storage and energy.
Global warming is true, though some see it as not being true.
The ozone layer of the atmosphere has been damaged, therefore resulting in the accelerated temperature of the earths surface. Nothing can be done to stop it.
It%26#039;s reality and we the people, have live with.
