There are a number of replies here that talk about NASA and correcting data, but with no links, and for good reason because either they would show that the corrections are only minor or they would go to the many different denier sites that spout different and conflicting theories, it%26#039;s not happening, it%26#039;s happening but it%26#039;s not us, only God can end the world? not to mention the other factions the %26quot;I hate Al Gores%26quot; and the %26quot;it%26#039;s a communist plot group%26quot; I%26#039;m sure there must be a group out there that can link UFO%26#039;s to this as well. 0% 0 Votes
Global warming will cause many bad effects. It will cause worse weather disasters because things like hurricanes and thunderstorms happen because of contrasts between cold and warm air masses, and these contrasts are greater now. And we are already seeing this with more hurricane and thunderstorm and tornado damage. It will cause polar ice to melt and ocean levels to rise, threatening coastal areas, and we are seeing that too. It will cause famine because the climate of farmland will be changed, and while this isn%26#039;t too much of a problem at this point, it could well turn out to be the worst effect, causing widespread war and refugee migration and starvation and stuff like that.
Nearly every country on earth, and especially the developed ones, are pushing for some kind of global cooperation on this problem, a treaty, plans for decreasing the use of fossil fuels. On the other hand we have the US Republican Party which is practically a wholly-owned subsidiary of the world oil industry. It%26#039;s no coincidence that our president, vice-president, secretary of state, and about 30 more top-level officials in the administration come out of the oil industry.
It -is- a human-caused problem and we -can- do something to fix it, to prevent much more trouble down the line. President Bush%26#039;s own scientists tell him this but he isn%26#039;t able to admit it publicly. The next president, of either party, will openly believe that it%26#039;s a problem and will do what he can to help.
If you are still neutral on the question, see Al Gore%26#039;s movie %26#039;An Inconvenient Truth%26#039;. No matter what you think of Al Gore personally, he makes a very very good case in this film. 0% 0 Votes
Also since 1940 it has warmed to just below the 1934 level twice and cooled well below that number twice, so in fact it seems that basically the climate has flat lined since 1934 with some minor fluctuations. So now the whole AGW thing is seen as what it is just a way for the oil companies to skim more profits out of the pockets of the worlds people and raise enough extra money to fund a charismatic presidential candidate to maintain their profits into infintium against the threat of nuclear and space based solar generation of power.
