Has the number of global warming deniers fallen to a level where they%26#039;re no longer important? According to a New York Times/CBS News poll conducted last April, 90% of Democrats, 80% of independents and 60% of Republicans said immediate action was required to curb the warming of the atmosphere and deal with its effects on the global climate. Nineteen percent said it was not necessary to act now, and 1 percent said no steps were needed.

Do you think global warming skeptics/deniers are outnumbered enough even in the USA that they won%26#039;t have significant impact on our efforts to solve the problem?

Ron C - LOL! C%26#039;mon dude, do you think about these things before you write them?

%26#039;You%26#039;re winning the political battle but losing the scientific one. Even The Washington Post says so.%26#039;

That pre-eminent scientific journal The Washington Post eh? LOL! Oh the irony.

How about the National Review?

%26quot;The National Review (the most prestigious conservative magazine) published a cover story calling on conservatives to shake off denial and get into the climate policy debate%26quot;
  • I%26#039;d like to think so, but on issues like this that require political change, usually the majority of people thinking one way or another is not the factor that will affect change. I think the deciding factor will be which group has the most money. As long as some of these oil and coal companies are making boatloads of money, and they have no viable ways to run their businesses without polluting, then there will always be a big resistance to alternative energies, even if the vast majority of people support them.

    Dang, I%26#039;m a pessimist today! The glass is half empty, the glass is half empty!!!!!
  • what i would like to ask all those thick headed deniers is why would liberals want to promote global warming unless they thought it was true? And if you say %26quot;money%26quot; that is complete and utter lie because saving the environment is possibly going to be one of the most costly things the human race could endeavor
  • The NY times, Washington Post and most of the media are left leaning and support the democrat party and its global warming guru, Al Gore. One of the few exceptions is Fox News. Most of the big dogs of the media live in monster, power guzzling homes and travel the world in private jets. Ditto for lefty movie stars like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Al Gore himself lives in a twenty room mansion in Nashville Tennessee and that is not his only home. The teachers union gives money to and supports the democrat party so you are likely to receive a liberal slant on your education. Less than 1,000 years ago they were farming in Greenland which is now a frozen wasteland. The earth%26#039;s temperature is never constant. Our sun goes in cycles, sometimes we have large volcanic eruptions and once in a while a very large meteor gets us. But ok let us assume that the one degree rise in temperature in the last one hundred years was caused by man. The answer to a smaller carbon footprint can be found ironically in left leaning France. France leads the world in Nuclear power plants, having started with an American design from Westinghouse. Nuke power is non polluting to the atmosphere, the only problem is a small amount of radioactive waste. I would rather have that than coal and oil fired plants belching smoke into the air. Electric batteries have made great strides recently from cell phones, to electric tools, to battery powered cars. If your home gets its power from a nuke plant and you plug your car in at night you have a small carbon footprint indeed. Nuclear power has two enemies i. e. the democrats and the oil lobby. Now that is an odd pair. Back in the seventies the global warming wackos were claiming our future was not bright due to global cooling! The reason politicians from both parties have jumped on the ethanol bandwagon is that most of the corn is grown in Iowa and the first presidential primary is in Iowa. Global warming is at best an exaggeration but it would be in our best interest to stop polluting the planet and follow the lead of France and go nuclear. Three Mile Island%26#039;s safeguards worked as they were designed to work. The Russians had their disaster because they put little value on life and had few safeguards. Not one French citizen has been harmed let alone killed by nuclear power.
  • CBS? Were the results faxed to them from an anonymous source from Kinko%26#039;s? Was Dan Rather involved?

    NY Times? Don%26#039;t get me started. I wouldn%26#039;t trust their polls anymore than I trust their news reporting.

    Isn%26#039;t this poll kinda old anyway? Belief in global warming is slipping with the temperature.
  • The warmers are winning the political fight but losing the scientific war. Even the Washington Post admits the number of skeptical climatologists is growing. It is only a matter of time before the science reverses the tide and wins the political fight as well.
  • Yea common sense prevails. But some Cooperate Study soon to be released will blame someone else.
  • No their not, and for good reason. It%26#039;s not true. Every climate model global warming enthusiasts have used has fallen apart. They all are %26quot;what if%26quot; and %26quot;if this happens%26quot; based, which the MSM ignores, and people like you never check out.

    A large group of scientists tried to present facts disagreeing with man made global warmers, but were not allowed to speak. The polar bear on a float ice block near the north pole was a lie. Snow fell on Bhagdad for the first time in memory. All of these events are either ignored or flat out denied by the TIMES, CBS, and all other biased, true believers.

    Man does not have the power to warm up or cool down the planet to any significant, long-lasting degree. You%26#039;ve been had.
