Well, I did a similar prepared speech about climate change and the 3Rs (reducing, reusing and recycling) and I started with something like Everything was destroyed, the weather was too hot for humans to survive, all the ice caps had melted and most of land area was covered with water or something like that to get the audience%26#039;s attention. :D Hope you do well for your speech :D
