Did the scientists who came up with the Kyoto protocol expect that implementing it would stop global warming? (No... it was the most that politicians were willing to consider, and better than nothing.)
Can we reduce CO2 emissions without reducing the amount of fossil fuel we extract? Only if we find a way to keep it off the market and safely store it. that is, not a chance!
If the main early problems of global warming derive from the fact that we will get much larger rainfall events and much deeper droughts something that can be mitigated?
Will difficulty in sustaining the supply of fossil fuels happen early enough to do anything useful for global warming? Probably not.
