Is the cicada on my balcony okay? Weird in a place this cold, we don%26#039;t see many cicadas, but today during a big storm a cicada buzzed onto my balcony. It%26#039;s been there for about three hours, and has moved a bit but not much. I%26#039;m wondering if anyone knows if it is able to fly back down from the fourth floor, whether it is nocturnal and just sleeping, or whether it%26#039;s probably dead. Strangest question I%26#039;ve ever posted.

It flew away. The sun just set. I wonder if that%26#039;s why.

They live 17 years or so underground, when they emerge and fly their lives are almost over. They can%26#039;t even eat, they only live to breed and then die. 100% 2 Votes
