Is this a good idea to stop pollution? One day My dad and I drove behind a school bus and the exsaust it gives off was so thick and putrid!

I think that if we replace normal buses with hybrid buses, it would help our ozone layer out alot!

States could vote on if they are a hybrid bus state or a regular bus state and raise money for the said buses

But maybe not? Do buses cause a great deal of pollution or not?

And another question! How would I get my idea out there? Im only 14, so keep that in mind!

Absolutely--almost.

%26quot;Hybrid%26quot; technology doesn%26#039;t really help much. It%26#039;s mostly a marketing ploy, not real alternative technology.

Stop and think. A hybrid combines an electric motor and a gas motor. What for? Its cheaper and simpler to jsut build an electric motor. Leave off the gas engine entirely, and add storage batteries.

We have the technology to do that now. And modern electrics can have performance and range comparable to gas-driven cars.

This does not totally solve the problem. We need to implement alternative technologies to produce the energy to charge batteries. That%26#039;s anoter part of the whole issue though.

Your idea is good. But what I%26#039;m saying is why do the job half-way?

• I had the same Idea, I worte to the Editor of my news paper, and asked for lots of people to meet at a local park, and sign a pettion. You know what happend!! It worked!!! So many people showed up because they thought I was so great for being 14 and wanting to help..
  
  So, after that, I sent the pettion to the Mayor, and here in Fresno, Our buses are Enviormentally Correct. I%26#039;m smart.
• Even though u r 14 , taking moral responsibility to protect our environment . Good. Feel like that only. But one thing ur idea is good but it is not possible to implement it because we have to bring a big force for such buses implementation. So, we think in our purview, first we will do doable things for example if we use petrol vehicle , we stop we use cycle. We do recycling, saving electricity power, We go to near slum areas and we teach heath and hygiene etc. So, Ur thing is high and good. first we will do what are achievable ones. Think like that only it good for the society.

  But i think that a better idea would be to stop it all together. And let us wake up later... So that way. We can just walk or skate or bike to school. It would be better on the environment.

• I%26#039;d rather our meager county school budget be spent on quality teachers. Maybe we could end the idiotic busing programs that send kids all over the county when perfectly good schools are within walking distance of their homes.
• That%26#039;s a really good idea, but it will take awhile to develop them. Most school buses run on diesel, I believe, so I%26#039;m not sure what modifications would have to be made.
