Seed vault in the artic????? what do u guys think of the doomsday seed vault in the artic, are the scientist really preparing for a global catstrophy and we unaware of it. R we really making the globe run out of its resources and proceed towards an unimaginable crisis?

I think it is a great idea. The project I think only cost about 9 million US. I%26#039;m sure this will come in handy possibly even before catastrophic climate change. Between, tsunamis, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, asteriod impacts, blithe, and more this is a project that really thinks ahead.

As for your second question, yes without a doubt we are running out of global resources. You have an ever increasing population many of which are just now starting to enter mainstream consumerism (using fossil fuels etc) and a finite amount of resources. It doesn%26#039;t take a brain scientist to figure out that eventually we%26#039;ll run out and before we do we%26#039;ll start to see severe signs of stress on the ecosystem.

• actually a seed %26quot;vault%26quot; in the attic is a bad idea. for starters a normal attic is way to hot to store seeds. second many seeds loose there viability after a year or so and some are good for many years. the best thing to do is choose heirloom type seeds for planting and do you own seed saving from year to year. worry about taking care of your own %26quot;family /friends%26quot;

  Preparing for the worst doesn%26#039;t mean that the worst will happen. It just helps restore life in case something does.

• its not so much for a global catastrophe as for local ones. for example the boxing day tsunami destroyed seed banks in Pakistan and Indonesia so those species are gone. the vault is just to preserve biodiversity in cereal crops and nothing more.
