We should definitely fix it now. It%26#039;s the only realistic thing we can do. Now, if we could go back in time, and warn people of what is going to happen, that would be great. But since people are stuck in their ways, the past and the present (and the future too), it%26#039;s hard to warn anyone. Some people say global warming is a load of bull, some say its good for the environment, some say it isn%26#039;t happening.... Well, I disagree. But, you know, that%26#039;s just my opinion. Everyone has one and is entitled to it.But, to answer the question...
Fix it now, or pay for it later. The past is the past, you can%26#039;t change it. But you can change the future.

He justifies it by buying carbon credits from himself.
Environmentalism is a religion and fear is the glue that binds all religions together.

Fix it now, hands down. The present is the end result of a long complex chain that probably is the best possible outcome that could happen, despite all the problems. I am convinced that whatever change you made in the past would make things WORSE today. If you think we made some kind of wrong turn back in history, then you do not know history well enough. The old PBS series %26quot;connections%26quot; would give you a small clue about that.
Consider this.
Big oil started out in the 1800s making fuel for oil lamps. Before petroleum was used, they burned whale oil in lamps. So big oil saved the whales.
Hundreds of years ago cutting of fire wood caused so much deforestation that laws has to be passed against using charcoal from wood to smelt iron. After people learned to smelt iron with coke made from coal, the forest grew back. So big coal saved the forest.
There are SO many interconnected events like that, each step solving a past problem but bringing with it new problems.
The ecology is WAY more complex that I suspect you are imagining. Like the economy. Both words start with %26quot;eco%26quot; because they both have similar meanings. Ecology is the complex interrelated workings of the natural world and economy is the complex interrelated workings of the artificial world. Neither can be managed easily or by making simple changes, like un-inventing cars or whatever. -
My soul has already left your planet. Do you think that makes me an illegal alien? I can look at the horizon at any time of the day and see the brown layer of car exhaust and since I%26#039;ve flown to Europe many times I know that it is all over the world. Also I know that it used to not be here when I flew 35 years ago. Also I am alarmed at the number of jack asses who write here that they are not believers in human caused atmosphere depletion/poisoning. Temperature extremes result from a thinned out atmosphere, just look at Mars. I also think that mankind is giving itself the shaft of death by agreeing to be bound by current government insistance on not allowing new technolgies to go forward quickly enough. My antidote is the Jet Stream, all that is required is the tower to collect it and use it for transportation here on the planets surface. (Constant 150 mph winds available at elevations beginning at 3,000 feet) This power is obviously a permanent and clean method of transportation, using large tubes and cannisters to transport items and people. We could use the current unemployed (millions of people needed) to construct these devices that intercept the jet stream and send it down tubes to interchange receptacles on Earth. etc. etc. But then again, I%26#039;m the one who wants to use proven methods to eliminate the need for all water in the depositing of human waste process

I%26#039;d need the time machine to wack the idiots who thought this crap up. Man-made weather....give me a break!

TECHNICALLY..... If we decided to do that, then someone would have shown up a couple years ago claiming they were from the future.. people would think they are crazy, and that would be the end of it. Basically, the fact that this hasnt happened yet tells us that we wont gain the ability to time travel in the future.
