What would be the best solution to global warming? Any ideas...? I know we COULD stop it from developing more, but how long would it take for things to go back to the way they were 100 years ago?
  • We need to at the very least conserve more energy and develop new clean technologies - both of which are practice even if the impacts of AGW turns out to not to be very severe (which is hopefully the case, but we won%26#039;t know for years). You know, wind and solar energy. I%26#039;m now against nuclear, but the waste is a huge problem so we need to be very careful about that option to be sure the waste can be managed for the long term. Hybrid cars and more efficient appliances are being developed as we speak.

Land use patterns and some agricultural practices may help us sequester more CO2 as well as reduce emissions and provide better quality of food (buying locally produced foods and forest management practices to grow forest faster for example). A cleaning up the ocean to reduce the factors that limit life there, since 3/4 of the planet is water and our oxygen depends on the ocean (which also means this is the largest sink for CO2). We have been getting better at keeping it clean over the years, but more needs to be done.

The goal is not really to have the climate revert to what it was 100 years ago. We would just like to have minimal human impact so that natural factors control the climate. The though is our ecosystems will be capable of adapting to climate change occurring at a natural pace and human well-being will not suffer greatly. It will take decades to slow the climate change train down. But we can only slow it down, not stop or reverse it.
  • Depending on who you read, it will take several decades to dissipate the excess heat already trapped in the worlds oceans. Also several decades to replace fossil fuel power plants with something available 24 x 7 like nuclear fission energy.
  • Desu has it right. The best thing that could happen to Mother Earth is to have all the humans disappear. We are like a virus on this planet.
  • Use microorganisms to bioremediate the greenhouse gases as they are created.
  • for everyone to stop smoking
  • Complete Human Destruction
  • That%26#039;s like asking what we can do to make the Earth less flat!!!
  • Block out the sun!
