• We do have giant ice cubes in the ocean - they%26#039;re called the polar ice caps, and their surrounding ice bergs. And they actually do keep the ocean cool(er); as they melt they keep retard (but don%26#039;t prevent) the increase in global ocean temperature. That effect eventually causes significant sea level rise, and may end the Gulf Stream cycle, which is disrupted by all the fresh water lowering the salinity of the water in the north.
  
  Giant umbrellas, or something like them, in a way, might be a good idea. But preferably, the umbrellas, would be more like mirrors, reflecting part of the sunlight back into space, protecting us. Non-reflective umbrellas would actually trap heat and cause more warming.
  
  The big air conditioner... well, I%26#039;m not going to even touch that one. ;-)
