Will world population plateau in the future? It is questionable whether the world could accommodate double today%26#039;s 6 billion people. Do you think that population will stabilize at 9 or 10 billion, as suggested by some demographers? Is population the greatest factor in environmental damage? Would it be easier to control our numbers than control climate?
http://www.irinnews.org/Theme.aspx?theme... The reason that my links seem dated is that this issue has been debated over the centuries and the same side wins every time. And it%26#039;s not the %26quot;overpopulation%26quot; side. Report Abuse %26quot;Malthus will be vindicated?%26quot; Yeah and William Miller and William Jennings Bryan...... I won%26#039;t hold my breath...... But at least you concede the pedigree of your ideas. Report Abuse

  • I think the greatest factor in enviromental damage are volcanoes, earthquakes, floods, fires, etc.

And, I think nature has a way of balancing itself when there gets to be too much of anything without anyone%26#039;s help.

I do think the population is much more easily controlled by man than world wide climate control, however, I don%26#039;t think that our controlling the population is something that would be a collective effort, rather it would be an effort of a few imposed on the rest of us. THAT is a problem.
