Aquafina? good for environment? what i hate the most is the giant corporations using their PR power to capitalize on the health and environmental consiousness of the consumers. like: %26quot;no trans fat%26quot; but 1,500 calories per serving, oil company %26quot;invested millions into alternative energy%26quot; while making billions every year on petroleum, etc. to me, just a bunch of hypocrites.
now aquafina spending big money advertising their bottle %26quot;using 35% less plastic%26quot; so it that supposed to good for the environment? Boo Hoo! are their bottles degrade 10 times faster then the regular bottles??? have we really solve the problem of using the plastic? NO.
i think what companies needs to do now is to committe to produce healthy, less enviromental impact products as %26quot;obligation%26quot;, not just try to score browny points with the general public, save the millions of advertising money to develop even more eco friendly technology. what is your thoughts?

The bottom line is, NO PLASTIC BOTTLE OF WATER IS GOOD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT. It is a huge consumer rip off. There may be legitimate times where bottled water is necessary, but most of the time it is a demand created by the manufacturers solely to make money. If Aquafina is making a bottle more degradable ( so it would take 100 years to degrade as opposed to 1,000? Great!) that%26#039;s wonderful, but it%26#039;s still a travesty of marketing and highlights how gullible the buying public is. I read somewhere, and I hope this is wrong, that 30 billion plastic water bottles are produced each year. Only 7% of them ever get recycled!! This is madness. If you don%26#039;t do anything else to help the environment, quit buying bottled water!! Thanks for bringing up this topic, it%26#039;s one of my favorites to rant about!!

thanks!
it is madness seeing all those bottles discarded everywhere, do people think they will just magically disappear?
unfortunately the companies objective is to make money and the law make them esay get away with things.

  • I have a PUR faucet mount, that%26#039;s the way to go. You can get a SIGG bottle to refill and you only use the plastic of the filter that needs to be replaced every 6 months or so.

To answer your question, yes, it%26#039;s a little bit ridiculous. But there are times when I%26#039;m out on a road trip or something and end up buying that bottle of water, so I guess if I actually liked the taste of Aquafina that would be a reason for me to choose it over another brand...
  • Even if the rate of degrading is the same, there is less plastic that needs to be degraded. Furthermore, there is less plastic used, which means less petroleum used to make plastic. So, yes. It does help.
  • The term for that is greenwashing, and I agree with you completely. It%26#039;s better to just drink old-school tap water.
