Can steel and aluminum cans be recycled together? I have heard different things and want to know if the different metals can be %26quot;tossed%26quot; in the same recycling bin.

the recycle bins for metals is meant for all different kinds of metals. For the sorting out of the different kinds of metals, ( in this case steel and aluminium), the workers will use an electro-magnet to separate the 2. Steel is magnetic

  they are really easy to separate, with an electro-magnet.
  
  in our town, everything that we recycle goes into the same bin, and the recycler separates them.
  AND, pays the town $1m a year for the privilege, which he makes back on the aluminum cans.
• When they recycle cans they use a magnet to separate the the steel from the aluminum. Aluminum cans usually have a deposit on them that you could get back, tossing them in with the regular steel cans is stupid.
• yes they can be recycled... and different metals have different melting points for which they can be separated from same recycling bin...
