Composting - Does anyone use the Bokashi system? In a leaflet I received there was a small compost bin/bucket that can be used for kitchen waste including fish and meat. I thought this would be a good idea as I never put meat, fish or cooked food on the general compost heap.

If you use, or have used, what is your opinion please?

I looked up the Bokashi system because of your question. I have a composter in the backyard. It%26#039;s trashcan sized, but I like the looks of the Bokashi system and I may switch over.

• The Bokashi system is best if you have little room for a composter, like living in an apartment, the only other reason to do it is to accelerate your composting. Plain old %26quot;rosh%26quot; composting (this is where you do not cut or grind anything up but you still have to put air in the center) is easy and cheep, you just need space and time. It takes about a year to get going in cooler environments.
• Although I don%26#039;t use the Bokashi system, my local authority is expanding a scheme - started several years ago - where it collects waste meat and fish separately from other household rubbish. A special container is provided for the purpose.
• well it is a good system if u wish to use it
