Curious about importing solar panels from Europe? I am very interested in running my house using solar panels. The only problem is that here in North America there is only one supplier (that I know of) In California, and it costs way to much money. What I would like to know is if anyone knows of a (or more than one) German company(ies) that specializes in the production, sales, and how-to install solar panels on your home. A website, telephone number...anything would be greatly appreciated. Don%26#039;t worry if the site is in German, I can speak it!

  • I could be way wrong here but I would think if an item was imported from Germany to the US, you have just raised the cost quite a bit. Not just the shipping costs, but the value of the dollar and that is fluid until the order is shipped.

You have already found out the drawback ( or one of them) to solar power. The cost. To get enough Watts for even a small cabin, you will require quite a few panels and have them mounted to a tilting rack for best exposure year around.

Then you have to buy some VERY expensive long term use batteries for a bank of batteries for night use.

I could be way off, but I would guess if you had the land, with a good flowing creek very near the cabin, on a hill where you could also use a windmill and solar panels, it will cost you 15-30 thousand dollars. That%26#039;s if you already have this perfect piece of land and the cabin.

Hey, I like dreaming about being off line also but it is VERY expensive and solar panels and batteries do not last forever. Batteries replaced about every 5 years and panels every 10. There is a US company that has a sun for its logo. It%26#039;s mostly about solar power. They go into the whole idea of going off-line. I mean with everything. You wont have any air conditioner either.Or Microwave.

    I wish you luck. 0% 0 Votes
