CFL%26#039;s contain a small amount of mercury, so you should avoid breaking them. They should be disposed of as hazardous waste. If you do break one, leave the room for at least 15 minutes, then ventilate it well. Don%26#039;t use your bare hands to pick up broken pieces.

I don%26#039;t use them. To save energy I swapped out my high output regular bulbs (100 watt) with lower wattage one%26#039;s (75 watts) and still get light instantly. You%26#039;re doing the same thing, so why buy the %26quot;energy saving bulbs%26quot;?
