Energy saving lights ? why is mercury used in these or standard lightbulbs if mercury is so dangerous ?

are there not any safe alternatives ?

Buy LED lights.

Fluorescent can be bad. You need to keep them on for at least 15 minutes at a time to ensure it will last long.

While LED lights go on in an instant and shut off in an instant and still saves energy. It%26#039;s like those lights on the tail lights on trucks on and the back lights on certain cars. The ones with all the little individual bulbs that blink really fast.

• one save alternative is flourscent bubls. the bublbs that are a bit twisted up about 3 times. These last longer. mercury is dangerous because of the large amounts of hydrogen or h12d3o12
• The mercury level is so small one wouldn%26#039;t make difference...but when the prospect of having millions trashed..then that could be a problem.
  It%26#039;s illegal to toss those compact florescence and large florescence into the regular trash here...they expect us to haul them to the hazardous waste facility.
  As far a safe alternative..there are none...except the old bulbs.
