Johnlong, Are you SURE about that plaper? Perhaps they%26#039;ve improved it, or perhaps it was a different company-- but I%26#039;ve heard that it is NOT healthy for the environment, that it is just a gimmicky thing-- it still uses TREES (paper), and the plastic still breaks down and contaminates the environment.

I bought reusable bags when I saw them one day at Jewel. They are made from recycled products and are recyclable. I use them all the time. I work at Walmart and I TRULY HATE plastic bags. We have started selling reusable bags, but I have yet to sell one.
When I buy my lunch, I tell them %26#039;No bags. I don%26#039;t want choking sea turtles%26#039;.
The bags get into the ocean and look just like jellyfish. Sea turtles, dolphins and many other sea creatures eat jellyfish and choke on the bags.

All good answers, but Mbruff, 5 stars because you actually TELL people, %26#039;No bags, I don%26#039;t want choking sea turtles.%26#039; Bless you for SPREADING THE WORD.We should all do the same. THANKS!
Ps:Suggestion to Wmart. Many of us don%26#039;t like being walking ads for stores, suggest they sell bags w. pretty pics.

  • I always use reusable bags when shopping, because it reduces waste. Sometimes i also use plastic bags, but i DO NOT dispose them, i also reuse them. But i rarely use paper bags, the last time i used paper bags was January 5, 2008.
I always reduce, reuse and recycle, because it saves some of our energy resources.
  • I use reusable bags that I have made out of old plastic bags that I have fused together. I sew them into bags and use them for shopping. I also make stuffed animals out of them for my kids. I sell them online and at craft shows.
    GK
  • I stopped using both. I shop at Costco where they don%26#039;t use either. I simply load the cart and transfer my goods to the trunck of my car. Now if I can only get the manufacturers of goods to stop using packaging!!!!
  • I always use reuseable bags at the grocery store, and try to remember them when I%26#039;m shopping elsewhere too. Because they save energy and resources - there%26#039;s no need to waste paper or plastic bags.
  • I use the new product......Plaper.

    60 percent Paper.......40 percent Plastic.

Essentially, it%26#039;s a bag that still works if it gets wet......It has elasticity and it good for landfills.
  • I recycled my plastic bags at any grocery store besides Albeetson%26#039;s because it just closed in June. I do bring some green bags and I used them while i shopped with my mom. I%26#039;m 21 by the way.
  • Aside from the use of trees, paper manufacturing is a rather energy-intensive and unclean (pollution-wise) process. Plastic doesn%26#039;t biodegrade, and can be harmful to animals who think it%26#039;s food. They can eat it till they%26#039;re full, then die of starvation because they%26#039;re unable to digest it.
I have canvas reusable bags. It%26#039;s amazing how much you can fit in those things! The grocery store where I bought them gives a 5-cent credit for each bag used on each visit (they only cost $1). If I don%26#039;t have enough with me, I get paper bags for the rest of my groceries and recycle those.
When I do manage to get stuck with a plastic bag, I recycle it, too. In fact, my recycling center takes a lot of plastic bags that you wouldn%26#039;t normally think to recycle--packaging from toilet paper %26amp; paper towels, zipper baggies, etc. They%26#039;re used to make stuff like brick pavers and patio furniture.
