Going green: just another trend?
Trends just seem to come in and out of the industries. Going green; the new trend. You notice quite a few teens wearing starts that have something to do with the environment and wearing shoes that are made out of recycled paper. Everyone wants to help the environment.. don%26#039;t they? What happens when this will go out of style? Will people still care? Or is this just another trend.

Much of it will be. Those things that save the most money will kept, but some of the goofier ideas (mechanical pens v. pencils) will be done away with. There are a lot of really stupid ideas out there that will die out.

Only for trend followers. Those of us who actually care will continue doing what we always do to reduce our impact on the environment wether anyone else does or not.

If it is, it is a better trend than ruining the planet. Yes people are very selfish today and tend to not stick with things but the ones that stick with something and try to better the world deserve props.
Not that the planet won%26#039;t survive us, we are only killing our race. Earth will rejuvenate after us and regrow like it has in the past.

i believe it%26#039;s just a trend. i%26#039;m a teen myself, and i think when this goes out of style, no one will care. just like being vegetarian. that%26#039;s been a trend for quite some time now, and when it goes out of style, no one else is going to do it

I%26#039;m beginning to think it is becoming just another marketing ploy. Like what exactly is a %26quot;green mortgage%26quot;? Is it better for the environment that I use energy and water to wash my napkins or use paper? Sometimes it can be confusing as to which course of action is actually better for the environment.

If it is it is a great trend! Better than bringing bell bottoms back! Some of it is a trend but for me it is a lifestyle.

I really hope it isn%26#039;t!
And I hate it when Aeropostale makes shirts that say %26quot;I save the planet%26quot; or %26quot;recycle%26quot;, because their shirts are environmentally friendly at all! It won%26#039;t go out of style. At least I hope so.

No this is not a trend. It is what we all are going to have to do. If it was just a trend, we will all die.

Sustainability is the final frontier.
Plenty of companies will make hollow claims of being green as long as they can get away with it. But I think enough genuine businesses will adequately serve the growing environmental awareness in the public that the phony-green companies will be forced to change.
And governmental regulations and certifications could help tremendously to make this a permanent fixture of our culture... so that for every product ever designed, its efficiency and end-of-life management are just as important as its appearance.
But there is still too much money to be made by telling people what they really want to hear--there%26#039;s nothing to worry about, just keep on living that extravagant North American lifestyle. I think it will be a long time before those voices are effectively marginalized.

Going green might be a trend... but unfortunately, saving the planet is not! With 6 billion of us using up the planet%26#039;s resources so quickly, with 9 billion of us on the planet in the next 30-40 years (that means 3 new Chinas!!), I think poor old planet earth cannot cope with our needs. The question should be, can us humans survive by caring and sharing what the planet can provide or will our demands for ever more, drive us into extinction. Its up to us!!
