all zero energy buildings are green buildings but not all green buildings are zero energy buildings.

a green building is one that is designed with the environment in mind. a zero energy building is entirely self sustaining with no drain on the power grid and is also designed with the environment in mind.

  • Green building

A green building uses less energy, water and natural resources, creates less waste and is healthier for the people living inside compared to a standard building.
Green buildings are designed to reduce the overall impact of the built environment on human health and the natural environment by:
Efficiently using energy, water, and other resources
Protecting occupant health and improving employee productivity
Reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation[2]
A similar concept is natural building, which is usually on a smaller scale and tends to focus on the use of natural materials that are available locally.[3] Other commonly used terms include sustainable design and green architecture.

A zero energy building (ZEB) or net zero energy building is a general term applied to a building with a net energy consumption of zero over a typical year. Zero energy buildings are gaining considerable interest as a means to cut greenhouse gas emissions and conserve energy. Buildings use 40% of the total energy in the US and European Union

  • %26quot;Zero Energy%26quot; usually speaks only to the building%26#039;s energy use - that it conserves everything possible, and generates enough to either supply all its own needs or more. This is difficult to achieve but not impossible. It isn%26#039;t necessarily %26quot;green,%26quot; but is a lot greener than a typical non-green, non-generating building. 0% 0 Votes
