I made the switch to straight razors about two years ago, not for %26quot;green%26quot; reasons but because I just thought it was cool. It was a fairly easy switch (some practice yes but not that hard) and I absolutely love the results. They really do give much more comfortable shaves.
It was just recently that I realized I wasn%26#039;t buying disposable razors or cartridges anymore so without trying I was helping the enviroment. I%26#039;ve got one razor that was my great grandfather%26#039;s. With proper care and maintainance, it will shave my great grandson just as well as it does me. Now THAT is eco-friendly and ultra cool at the same time.
Ladies I think you could use them too but the double edge razor is probably more user friendly on the legs and underarms.

Why on Earth for? Imagine how much energy is used for your massive razor compared to the tiny bits of iron in a disposable. I%26#039;ll bet you could get a lifetime of shaves from a disposable for the amount of steel you have in your straight razor! 40% 2 VotesOther Answers (3)

I was thinking about switching to one after reading about the %26quot;no impact man%26quot; doing the same thing. I don%26#039;t really shave that often, and disposable razors last me forever though, and I use the kind where only the top part snaps off.
If I was to go straight edge, I would want to find a used one that was still in good shape. That way, it wouldn%26#039;t be using any new resources to produce. 20% 1 Vote -
Never.
I cut easily and my hands have never been the steadiest. However, I eliminated thousands of blades and disposables 20 years ago by growing a beard which I%26#039;ve worn ever since.
I%26#039;ve seen safety straight razors in museums, that only expose a small part of the edge. Someone might want to consider bringing those back. 20% 1 Vote -
What an awesome idea.
I wish more people would think of little ideas like these that could eliminate the massive amounts of crap we throw away. 20% 1 Vote
