How can we improve our school and make it environment friendly?
  • There are many things you can try to accomplish at your school to made it more eco friendly. You can also try to encourage students to adopt some of these habits at home as well as at school. Here are a few idea%26#039;s I had:

~Of course, recycle everything you can! (Ex: cans, bottles, plastics, paper, ect.)
~Buy energy saving light bulbs (florecent)
~Encourage students to buy things like clothes, paper, ect that are made from recycled materials
~Use reusable batteries or recycle dead batteries properly
    ~Turn off lights whenever possible
~See if they could buy eco friendly soaps and dish washer liquids for the kitchen
~Try to see if they could buy more organic foods and local foods for students for lunch (for example, at a farmer%26#039;s market)
~Try to see if you can get the janitors to use eco friendly products in replace of regular cleaners (Greenworks)
~Use cold water to wash cloths or other things if there is a home ec. class (Tide Cold water works great)
~Plant trees around the school to shade and save on using more air conditioning
~Try to get the school to change the setting on their sprinklers to use less water
~If the school used fertilizer, try to convince them to buy eco friendly fertilizers (I think they have them at Home Depot)
~Try to encourage students to walk, ride the bus, or ride a bike to school and also other places they may go

  • I think very strongly about this and in my old school we had a program were we raised $9,000 and bought recycling bins and put them in our parking lot. in one school year we recycled 10,000 papers per classroom and with 25 classroom that was really good we also had one day (friday) were we went outside and shut the power of at our school and we worked on this huge garden with potatoess and corn and beans and all kinds of stuff and then thecafeteriaa used it to feed us. We also haveFluorescentt lights in 21 of the rooms and working hard to get the rest
  • Start A recycling program, we live in a throw a way nation, kids need to start re-using things that can be re-used, like offices shcools use a huge amount of paper, and it is just thrown away on a daly bases, use that waist paper for sckool projects, I do not know what grades you teach.
  • set the rules...have it posted
cctv record all activities ,then harsh on penalties and generous on rewards
habits are hard to form until they become cores of a person%26#039;s character
  • Fluorescent light bulbs, encouraging green habits (saving electricity and water, carpooling, etc.) Knowledge.
  • School is a building where kids and teenagers go to learn-- what environmental concerns are within a SCHOOL????
