What are three easy/simple things I can do regularly to help out?
Best Answer
ou don%26#039;t have to go all out...it can be simple things...small things that will make a difference.**Start by buying reusable canvas bags. Your local grocer might look at you funny, but tell them to fill it up. It%26#039;s a great way to save some trees and start a conversation w/ someone about why you do it.
**Use energy efficient bulbs. Some states are going to start requiring them anyway. They are more expensive, but they last a lot longer and us a lot less energy.
**Buy local. Support your local farmer. It%26#039;s a great way to get to know your neighbor and you save on the use of petroleum, air pollution is minimal and you help support the local economy. People don%26#039;t realize how far our food travels just to get to us. Find a farmer%26#039;s market or a co-op. Plus, this will help you eat better when you buy a crate of apples. You%26#039;ll need to eat them before they go bad so it might help you from snacking on crap.
**Reduce, Reuse, Recycle. The town I live in is very unfriendly to the environment. They don%26#039;t require recycle or give the means to easily do so. I take mine to the local recycling center and even though it is time out of my life, I feel good knowing I%26#039;m helping out mother earth.
**Walk, ride a bike, take the bus/subway instead of using your own car. Granted it is nice to have the luxury of a car, but even though I have one, I enjoy taking the bus to work sometimes (especially on smog warning days) so I can just sit and read instead of pay attention to traffic. Also the grocery store is down the street from me, so I walk to buy my food and because I can only carry so much I get to go more often and get more exercise and an arm workout :)
**Take your own cup into Starbucks instead of using their paper ones.
Just remember YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE! Every little bit counts. I answered this question a few days ago and I truly believe they are EASY things to do to get your started...good luck!

Basically you can:
Walk to the shops which also saves you money and makes you fit,
use low-energy light bulbs,
have a combi-boiler installed,
and turn off the heating and put a sweater on instead amongst many other things. -

Buy lots of green paint
Paint everything around you green
Leave your bread out until it turns green
Leave your meat out until it turns green
Stop bathing until your skin turns green
Walk around so every one can smell you and they will all turn green
That should do it. -
You can provide for responsible recycling. You can be less a consumer of products that require inorganic products for their provision. You can wear clothes made of cotton, or rayon, and reject those made of polyester. You can combine the needs that require using your auto in one trip, which will reduce you usage of fossil fuel. You can wear a sweater, or an additional layer of clothing and turn your thermostat down so you use less energy to stay warm. You can use clear film you can apply with a product that, while temporary, will provide a way to insulate your windows against heat loss. The film will be usable next year, and the adhesive product will continue to be available. If you have a fireplace, that you really don%26#039;t use, close the draft , and try to seal it against heat loss. In the summer, Place a reflective film on the frames of your windows that face the sun. Wear clothes made of thinner natural fabrics. Set your air conditioner at 78, and learn to be comfortable at that temp. Take showers during the hottest time of the day, and air dry. Go to movies during the hottest time of the day and enjoy their cooling system. I am not a young dog, but I am still learning new tricks.
