Like any product - solar panels have to be manufactured and shipped - all of that causes pollution...
One way solar energy helps against CO2 levels is that it is what plants live off of, and plants, well, you know, take in CO2 and release O2...which is good....

the material for solar panel itself is synthetic which means its not biodegradable.can pollute the soil if disposed improperly and can cause air pollution if it burns because it is not a natural polymer.
