In chitting my first early spuds and some have gone soft,? theyre in egg boxes in my boiler cupboard, will they be ok?

Best Answer

Chitting is a form of premature aging, so going soft is not a problem of itself.

but they should be in the light.
If you have a warm spot for earlies, eg in south facing tyres, or under flece then you could/should plant them out now.

  • What are you keeping them warm for - they grow - they don%26#039;t hatch ! -
  • chitting what the hell is that,speak english pommy,try swapping the spuds for eggs and you may have some luck hatching them into %26quot;chicks%26quot;
  • you need to move them somewhere cool but frost free, and in the daylight, so the sprouts go dark purple/green instead of white.
  • yes, provided you can plant them in the next week or so, may be too warm near the boiler cupboard, outdoor shed would be better
