Is it better for the environment to have a summer home? Figure Florida in the Winter, New York in the summer, for example. That way, one would use less heat and AC. But there is the travel factor.

No you would still be using AC, Florida is still 80 or 90 degrees in winter and New York is the same during the summer, you would still have to use AC. You would still be using just as many resources, just in different places, so having a second home really does nothing to help the environment.

  • Also there is the carbon footprint factor, making a home has a high carbon footprint, its also not very sustainable, because if you think about it, not everybody could have 2 homes (they couldnt afford it) there arent enough buildings.
