Of course it is. It is using less electricity... it%26#039;s not like a gas powered motor. 100% 1 Vote

  • Not necessarily.
If you are moving cool night air through the house to cool down interior materials, so that you can close the house up tight and not need air conditioning in the daytime, then turning the fan off in the night will leave the house hot when morning comes.

Efficiency can only be measured when we are accomplishing the objective. Efficiency in heating the house could be achieved at very low cost if we accept to live in outside ambient temperatures. It just does not accomplish design objectives. 0% 0 Votes
  • A ceiling fan is nice when you are directly under it such as in bed at night when you can turn off the A/C. On the whole, heat rises. It doesn%26#039;t take a rocket scientist to figure out where the heat goes when you use a ceiling fan. The answer to your question is yes, of course it should be turned off when you leave a room. 0% 0 Votes
  • If you just turn it off and leave it plugged in, then no, because even though the fan is not running the power cord is still pulling voltage from the outlet, so it is only worth it if you unplug it. 0% 0 Votes
