Recycling???
so i was at work and i was talking to this guy about how i recycle and that it cant be bad for the environment. he proceeded to tell me how recycling is worse for the environment b/c it puts out so much pollution into the air. i have never heard of such a thing and i figure that if that was the case then people would would know about it and people would not be so passionate about promoting it. he proceeds to tell me that its all a political scam. is there any truth to this? if so where did you read your information??

I suspect your friend was referring to the fact the a huge percentage of climatologists don%26#039;t agree with the theory that man is responsible for global warming. And that many global warming alarmists appear to be politically motivated. Indeed, there is overwhelming historical evidence that CO2 levels are the result of global warming, not the causative factor. However, man is certainly responsible for the pollution that occurs in the air, water, and on the land. Recycling is an excellent way to reduce the landfill pollution as well as the energy used in manufacture of the various objects that man seems unable or at least unwilling to live without.

I know people like this. They don%26#039;t believe that they should have to care about the planet, let other people do it. Lemme guess, he doesn%26#039;t believe in Global Warming, that we haven%26#039;t done anything wrong in our world? Tell him to dump garbage all over the lawns and parks of your city. If he asks why, then you say that%26#039;s what happens when the landfills run out of room, they come back to us. By not recycling, those landfills would only get bigger. Recycling takes energy, but it saves things like trees, which is really saving lives. It takes energy, but depending on where that energy source comes from can make it okay. If the recycling company gets its energy from a nuclear or coal plant, then there%26#039;s no point in recycling, because our world%26#039;s getting damaged the same amount either way. A renewable resource such as wind, tide, solar, or hydroelectric are energy efficient and earth friendly, making it a much better choice to recycle.

To make a bottle it takes a lot of energy!
To recycle a bottle it takes 1/4 of the energy that it did to make it!
Recycling is a lot better than putting all of that stuff in the dumps.
You think that putting all of that stuff into dumps and letting it sit there is not bad for the environment.
Your friend just sounds like he has not researched this and just feels like telling what he thinks is correct.

To recycle anything, it takes energy, basicially the things we recycle are crushed up to make new things. Reducing what we use, and reusing is much, much better for the environment, but in the age in which we live, recycling is very necessary. I also tend to think along the lines that recycling keeps people employed. There are + and - on both scores. Hope this helps.

Actually, recycling saves energy and reduces pollution.
Aluminum, for example, takes a lot of electrical energy to make, and it takes much less to melt down aluminum cans to make new aluminum.

it is not the truth. recycling saves the environment (until and unless you are not using electrical appliances).
